CURRENT STATUS: On November 4, 2021, a request to table indefinitely the proposed modifications was made by workgroup leader Steve May. This is on the agenda for the December Model Rules Committee but only as a discussion item.
UPDATE: October 21, 2021 – At a meeting of the Pari-Mutuel Auditor Committee a recommendation to proceed pending finalization by the workgroup of proposed changes was adopted. The petition for the rule change and a draft final version of the language was submitted. (See below)
UPDATE: June 7, 2021 – The draft rule has been submitted to the Thoroughbred Racing Association’s 2050 Technology Technical Committee scheduled to meet June 24, 2021. Input was received and incorporated into the draft rule and was considered at the Pari-Mutuel Auditors Committee meeting in October.
The ARCI Pari-Mutuel Auditors Committee is working on a rewrite of ARCI-004-105 (G) – Pick-(n) Pools.
A discussion proposal was put forth by Steve May of the Minnesota Racing Commission and discussed by the ARCI Pari-Mutuel Auditors Committee on February 2, 2021. The draft reflects the work effort of staff from several commissions and the Canadian CPMA as well as Churchill Downs.
A second meeting of the Pari-Mutuel Auditors Committee took place on March 31, 2021 to consider input from regulatory members. It was determined at that meeting to obtain further input from racetracks and tote companies and bettors before the committee forwards a revision to the Model Rules Committee for consideration in July. The draft revisions are being circulated to the Thoroughbred Racing Association’s (TRA) 2050 Committee, which is expected to meet in June, 2021.
